Skate & ski all in one day.
I got my exercise yesterday when I skated around the whole lake, there are several bumpy spots but there is enough smooth ice to make it really fun.  The dogs came along, teddy runs on the ice and Pedie runs on land as much as he can. Stopped at the family cabin to rest on the lake side swing and have a sip of water before heading back to the north end of the lake.  After dinner the sun was already set and Lyle and I went out for a ski, we hit all the outer trails, skied fast and hard.  I thought I would sleep well only to be awake at 3am so I got up and made kolaches.  Kolaches are a family recipe and take all day to make, I like to serve them to my guests in the morning.

Cardinals

We were visited by a pair of Cardinals, they were high up in the Red Pines in front of the inn.  When I first noticed them they were eyeing up the feeders were I have homemade suet with all sorts of good stuff in it.  Nice sign of spring I'd say!

A wolf on the lake
The other night we were relaxing with a glass of wine.  Lyle was standing in front of me, just behind his ear I could see something running on the lake.  Yes there he was a nice sized brown grey wolf running from north to south down the lake, paralleling the ski trails, he ran into Murphys bay.  Trying not to think about it when I'm skiingSurprised

Gardening in March
Yes my garden is growing already.  I planted tomatoes several weeks ago hoping for early production.  Big boys, Bush cherry and my famously huge Minnehaha toms (heritage) which are 6-10 inches tall already.  Soon I will plant peppers and cabbage.  I decided to put the squash seeds straight in the garden this year since I still have so many from last years crop.  I sure hope we have a long sunny summer!

Lyle and Kathryn owned and operated a Minnesota Resort for 11 years prior to building this unique home.  Together they designed, built and created all the unique features in this exquisite round home built in 2007.  They added the tree house in the spring of 2015.
This area is important to them as Kathryn grew up in these woods and so did her father and grandfather.

Lyle owns a cabinet and construction Business.

Living in the Chippewa is a dream come true as both enjoy the lake and woods and all the activities they provide.  Both love to hunt & fish and take pride in the home and property.  Kathryn has a variety of gardens and really loves the out doors and tending to them.  Another passion is caring for and grooming the ski trails, it takes a lot of hard work but is well worth the time spent.  If the temperature is above 0 Kathryn can be found on her ski trails everyday in the winter. Caring for every aspect of the inn is what drives her and puts her in her element.
